THE INSPIRATION

It comes when you make time

Not long ago, I stumbled on a Facebook post relating that oftentimes creative women will postpone their time for art. They will paint or draw once the house is clean, when the meals are made… but inspiration doesn’t wait for the chores to be over or for you to convince yourself that you deserve to slow down.

Inspiration is like the spasm of a muscle; brief, passionate yet strong. And we need to make the most of it or train it if we must. Now art has nothing to do with my Gem-enthusiast page, but it has everything to do with me and my former identity — it also has to do with the transit we just experienced yesterday on December 10: Neptune went Direct for the last time at 29 degrees of Pisces. It is completing its 14 year cycle in that sign and moving determinedly into Aries.

Another personal Astrology example: I have Pisces in my 5H of creative expression and since 2011 I have struggled and peaked in my vision of art, aligning with the moody theatrics of what it means to be an artist and separating myself from the pretentiousness of being the original one to give birth to a vision or to a concept. Artists create, but it is now clear that in this point in time we cannot reinvent the wheel. My inspiration felt stifled because I wanted to paint something different instead of painting what I love, although what I love has changed with time and I had to learn to make room for that too.

In the coming weeks, as a Professional Astrologer, I can tell you that allowing these illusions to make way for clarity is important to your soul (because this transit is happening at the critical last degree of Pisces) — we can feel spiritually or mentally unwell if we ignore this impulse.

I always love to give my Natal Chart placements as an example to make Astrology more relatable to you.

The general theme of this transit is that we are gaining clarity on where we project or others project a deformed version of the “truth” onto a certain topic and that “certain topic” is the theme of the House currently being transited in your specific Natal Chart. My Transit Chart readings combine your personal placements with the transiting planets for an accurate interpretation of where your energy must be focused on to make the most of these cosmic cycles.

DIAMOND CUTS

An evolving series

This is the point of connection between keeping my art alive and the all time consuming reality of what it takes now that I’ve made it into my desired field:

• I’m certified as a Diamond Grader

• I work in luxury Diamonds operations

• I built and at-home gemological lab (mostly for Diamond Grading)

• I make gem-related videos and posts consistently

When do I fit in art? Where do I create the headspace for art? These complex questions were so simply answered by my “Diamond Cuts” project. I started it back in February 2025, after enrolling at the Montreal Institute of Gemmology, when I said to myself: “at least 1 different Diamond cut drawing a week”. “It’s for learning cut anatomy purposes”, I promised myself, as a relevant attempt to be creative in the way I was studying.

As a “former” portrait artist painting the depths of my turmoiled moods and homages to my failed relationships through surrealist metaphors nobody understood but me: I felt that as I matured, this was no longer a sustainable headspace to nurture.

But Diamonds… are universally beautiful and can hold stories of their own.

NEPTUNE TRANSITS

How this affects creativity

It has been almost a week since I started writing this blog post and I mentioned earlier that Neptune going direct won’t be easy in the week to come. Today on December 16 we have Neptune squaring both the Sun and Mars — giving us one last identity and motivational crisis around the old narratives we used to relate to ourselves and our creative expression.

In the guise of clarity coming in, experiencing the opposite first can help show you how deep these stories do not resonate anymore.

It’s in the feeling of loss that we find ourselves.

What I find comforting about this “Diamond Cuts” project is that the muse is consistently objective. There is something mathematical about the initial line work of drawing or painting a faceted Diamond. The shading then to give the illusion of refracting facets is a little bit more of a randomized and intuitive process, but there is great stability in depicting gemstones.

I’m not expected to birth sense into my concept or to dwell on the purity and depth of the conveyed emotion…

the process is the meditation: to capture the journey of light through the cut of the gem.

For those who aren’t Astrology-lingo savvy: why did I mention Neptune being linked to creativity? Neptune’s rulership is over the zodiac sign of Pisces — albeit the fact that Neptune is just now finishing its transit through its domicile in the same sign. Pisces represents our intuitive connection with the Spirit of Creation: Art and Spirituality, plus all of its sub-categories such as music, visual art, design, dreamscapes, the subconscious and our relationship with Source as the connection to everything and nothing simultaneously. Ultimate enlightenment versus illusion, deception and escapism.

Placidus Scorpio Rising natives may share my 5H in Pisces placement (if your rising sign is in the second decan of Scorpio) which only amplifies this emphasis on how creativity is being expressed through you at this time. It’s important to honour these cycles and to work with these transits however they may show up. Every celestial movement is an opportunity for growth.

If my Artist Story inspires you to review or start your own, keep yourself posted with my “Diamond Cuts” project on my Instagram or TikTok. I am generous with my work in progress videos here.

May you keep that inner spark alive,
